Salty Liquorice Salmiakki - Koskenkorva

Salmiakkikossu consists of Koskenkorva Viina vodka with salmiakki extract dissolved in it. Salmiakki is somewhat similar to our black licorice. In its manufacturing process, grain alcohol is produced using a 200-step continuous distillation designed to produce high-purity industrial ethanol.

Distillery: The farmers of the Finnish town of Koskenkorva are honest and hard-working people. They have been the backbone of Koskenkorva Vodka for six decades and most of them have been working as farmers for many generations already. The barley in Koskenkorva is one of a kind and Saana and Elmeri, the two varieties present, are the two types of barley grown most northerly in the world. The long days of the summer season in which barley grows at its best, allow for a large harvest in autumn. The water used in distillation is one of the purest in the world. It is filtered every day through the ridges of the Salpausselkä and all that needs to be done is to filter out the leaves and branches carried by the current.
