Rhum Vieux Agricole VO Martinique - Clement

 Rhum agricole VO comes from a blend of Clément rums aged for at least three years in 200-liter oak barrels. During this aging period, both new and old barrels are used.

 Tasting Notes: Remarkable aromatic intensity with notes of spice and dried fruit. The palate of this old rum has a frank attack that reveals intense notes of wood and spices such as cinnamon and vanilla. This Clément rum offers a very pleasant length on the palate, punctuated by subtle notes of almond that accompany an inimitable woodiness.

 The Distillery: Maison Clément is currently one of the oldest properties on the island of Martinique, so much so that it has almost become a kind of historical monument: always open to the public, it has welcomed truly prestigious guests and visitors over the decades. Founded in the late 19th century, in 1887 to be precise, the company was founded by Homère Clément, a doctor and mayor of Le François. After purchasing the prestigious 43-hectare Domaine de L'Acajou sugar plantation, he began producing Rhum Agricole directly from sugarcane juice, resulting in a spirit characterized by a contemporary and pure style. In the wake of this production, Homère Clément himself chose to establish a full-fledged distillery, specifically to meet the huge demand for alcohol during the First World War. After Homère Clément's death, his son, Charles Clément, took over the management of the business, perfecting the production methods and beginning to export Martinique Rhum Agricole abroad for the first time.
