The term 'non plus ultra' comes from Roman mythology. The Pillars of Heracles, built near the Strait of Gibraltar, mark the end of the world.  The Distillery: AH Riise is located on the island of St. Thomas, a US Virgin Island in the Caribbean. Before the island became an American territory, it was a Danish colony. Pharmacist Albert Heinrich was not only authorized to open a pharmacy around 1840, but also to produce spirits. His production is based on years of experience, carefully selected spices, and extensive aging in charred oak barrels.
