Northern Harvest Rye Whiskey - Crown Royal

 Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye is distilled from a blend containing 90% rye. This Canadian whisky is produced at the Gimli distillery, located in a remote area on the shores of Lake Winnipeg. The distillery grounds also include the warehouses where the whisky is aged, where temperatures can drop to -40 degrees Celsius in winter. Surprisingly, Jim Murray's Whisky Bible named Crown Royal Northern Harvest Rye the best whisky of 2016, with a score of 97.5 out of 100.

 Tasting Notes: Amber color. Very fruity aroma with notes of yellow fruit, cereals, oak, and hints of vanilla and spices. Sweet and smooth flavor with notes of vanilla, oak, orange marmalade, and pepper, with hints of green apple and cinnamon. Medium-lingering finish with notes of cinnamon, cereals, and vanilla.

 The Distillery: Created in honor of King George VI's visit to Canada in 1939, Crown Royal is undoubtedly one of the most beloved and best-selling whiskies in the world. Production of Crown Royal began in 1939, but sales were reserved exclusively for members of the British Crown. Sales were only opened to the public in 1964.
