Pinot Nero Piemonte DOC 2024 - Cantine Bava

Pinot Noir Piemonte DOC – Cantine Bava

Cantine Bava's Pinot Noir Piemonte DOC comes from the Piedmont hills, where this international grape variety finds ideal conditions to express elegance, aromatic finesse, and great balance. The vineyards are located in breezy hillsides with calcareous marl soils that favor slow and complete ripening. The result is a refined Pinot Noir, characterized by intense aromas and a delicate yet persistent structure, perfectly expressing the character of the Piedmont terroir and the Bava family's winemaking tradition.

Tasting Notes: It displays a bright ruby red color with subtle garnet highlights. The aromatic profile is fine and elegant, with notes of small red fruits such as cherry and raspberry, accompanied by light floral nuances of rose and delicate spicy sensations. On the palate, it is harmonious and velvety, with soft, well-integrated tannins. The freshness supports its drinkability and leads to a balanced and persistent finish.

Pairings: Ideal with roasted or grilled white meats, poultry, mushroom dishes, pasta dishes with light ragù, and medium-aged cheeses. Also excellent with Piedmontese dishes such as tajarin or agnolotti.

Vineyard training: Guyot on calcareous marl soils typical of the Piedmont hills. The vineyards are cultivated using sustainable agronomic practices and controlled grassing between the rows to preserve soil fertility and limit erosion. Vineyard management emphasizes low yields and careful grape selection to ensure quality and aromatic concentration.

The Winery: The Bava family's history begins in Cocconato, a village nestled in the hills of the Monferrato area of Asti. The Bava family has been cultivating vines in this area since the 1600s. Today, the property extends between the Monferrato and Langhe regions, with vineyards managed according to principles of environmental sustainability. The vineyards use natural fertilizers derived from grass clippings and pruning, wooden poles sourced from renewable forests, and grass cover between the rows to prevent soil erosion. The winery was founded in 1911, and since 1975, the Bava family has been among the pioneers of the use of barrique in Piedmont, contributing to the development of elegant, modern wines while respecting tradition.

Taste the quality of the big names in oenology and discover hidden pearls of small local realities. Our wine treasures are stored in the dark, preventing them from coming into contact with natural or artificial light. All still wines are placed on their side. Optimal humidity and temperature are maintained through natural processes. Aging and maturation give the wine character and personality: in our cellars it continues to improve undisturbed over time. The purchase of alcohol is reserved for adults.
